Great Unclean Ones

This page details every individual Great Unclean One model that Games Workshop have produced. Additionally I have included models that could be used to represent Great Unclean Ones without needing any conversion work (typically by using models from different scales). Note that the images are not necessarily to scale with each other.

Summary:

• Individual Great Unclean Ones:
  • 1 model from the late 1980s that was never released, designed by Nick Bibby and based on the concept art by Tony Ackland. This was a prototype model for the Great Unclean One, but was apparently difficult to cast. Nick Biby left Citadel shortly afterwards, leaving Aly Morrison to create new versions.
  • 25 components in the 1st release (1989) designed by Aly Morrison. The first release of the figures for Greater Daemons were multi-part models with multiple versions of most body parts, each interchangeable. This allowed a great deal of flexibility in customising the models however you liked, as there are 3600 different combinations to produce a complete model.
  • 12 components in the 2nd release (in resin from 4 Aug 2012) designed by Trish Morrison. The initial release of this model for the Great Unclean One had only one head option, that also fits the tongue and tongue tip. A second head was made available later, which fits the same torso, but does not use the tongue and tongue tip components.
  • 8 components for the huge Great Unclean One Lord model (2005) designed by Daniel Cockersell for Forge World. This figure is the special character Daemon Lord Scabeiathrax the Bloated, Papa G'aap, Lord of the Blighted Pit, Maggotspore, the Wind of Nurgle.
• Great Unclean Ones in Other Scales: This includes Great Unclean One figures in scales other than for Warhammer Fantasy Battle and Warhammer 40,000. It also includes figures that were not designed to be Great Unclean Ones but would be appropriate to model them. Various Nurglings look like miniature Great Unclean Ones (especially the second release Nurglings) but are rather too small for use even in Warmaster or Epic.

Other models suitable for use as Great Unclean Ones

	Nurgle Classic Familiar (1991) 073128/55	Model designed by Jes Goodwin. The celebrated range of classic familiars includes a set of familiars for each of the four major Chaos Gods that are shaped like miniature Greater Daemons. So the Nurgle familiar looks like a small Great Unclean One, and could be used as a small one for Warmaster or Epic.
